In typical Gurthaew & Emeldir fashion we have booked our latest escape to the sun with added archeology. However, because we prefer to avoid large crowds and not have to fight our way through to interesting bits we decided to copy what several of out Egyptological friends did after the Islamic insurgents shot several tourists a Deir rl-Bahri in Egypt some years ago. After the shootings, the tourists were flooding out of the country so our friends booked the first available trips out to Egypt based on the fact that:
  • there were virtually no tourists about
  • the gunmen would all be in hiding
  • and they could have the sites to themselves.
They said it was wonderful and the local tomb and site guardians were so pleased to see people that they opened up some of the sites specially and let them stay in Nefertari as long as they liked.

So using the criteria of  "where aren't people going?" we have decided on Pig Pestilence Central and have booked for Mexico with forays into Guatemala and Honduras. I really must get me a more up-to-date camera.
