AKICOLJ - eBay & Paypal

Has anyone used eBay to sell anything recently? ([livejournal.com profile] wellinghall ?) I have a surplus mountain bike to get rid of and, as I don't have a Paypal account,  I would like to sell it using means other than PP. Does anyone have any experience of selling and accepting payment by other methods?

My gripes with PayPal are that it wouldn't let me release money to my cheque account, it wouldn't tell me why, the PP "help" desk never answered any emails and their telephone helpline, when I finally found a number, was useless.

Sorry I've only ever bought, via cheque or Paypal.

I have very occasionally accepted payment by other means - cheque, postal order, money order from overseas. I have paid by direct transfer in the past, although I don't think I've ever received money that way.

It will slow down the process, because with PayPal, it can be pretty instaneous. You really should wait for the payment to clear before sending the bike. And once I received a postal order that hadn't been signed (although I can't remember what the outcome was).

OTOH, remember that PayPal levy a fee on the recipient, which other methods don't.

I'd be happy lend you my PaPal account - receive the money into it, then send you a cheque.

There has been talk of eBay compelling sellers to accept PayPal, but I'm not sure of the details.
