Walls, part 7
Apr. 20th, 2010 11:48 amA quarry lorry has just called and dumped 4 cubic metres of rough cut stone. Right in the middle of the car parking area. Fortunately, the chief stone wrangler has to sort, grade and dress the bits so it will all get moved over the course of the afternoon. By Saturday, we should have our wall back.
I have been talking to the chap about the wall and the state of other walls we have. He reckons that two parts are in need of some TLC otherwise they might come down by hemselves in the next few years, Yet another job for the Summer - filling voids, wedging bits of stone, replacing some damaged stone blocks and pointing up some of the more rickety areas. I don't want to point the whole wall as it's been a haven for insects to hole up in over the Winter and, having seen 12 different types of spider in our garden, I want to encourage as many as possible.
