I've just put out the birds' supper. Whilst I was scattering bread soaked with lard along with rehydrated mealworms, the female blackbird came right up to my feet to get her share. She must regard me as too slow and clumsy to pose any threat. As soon as I had gone in there was the local starling hoard who zoomed in and started guzzling everything. We have sparrows, dunnock and the occasional pied wagtail visiting at the moment. I haven't seen the collared doves for a while and the jackdaws that roost in the church tower seem to be too nervous to visit at the moment.
