Speak of the devil...
Nov. 17th, 2009 08:00 pmI got this yesterday. Brad is their other dog who is 3 years old.
She appears to be very cute but she is a devil in disguise.
We had an eventful night last night when we decided to let her have the run of the house, she started off reasonably well and at 5am peed on Brad's bed and woke him up, this prompted him to get v. upset and he then spent the rest of the night till 7am on our bed. He has treated her with disgust all day and growled at her every move and wanted nothing to do with her. But this afternoon when we got back from the vets having left him on his own for an hour he was slightly happier and let her near him without growling every time. Tonight we are going to fit earplugs and put her in a pen to give him and us a rest. We tried her in it this morning for 1/2 hour and she screamed solidly for 1/2 hour she has fantastic lungs on her !!
And today's report is:
She might look cute but has has v. large lungs.
We tried the cage last night and she howled fairly soon after she went in it for 20 mins or so before I came in and told her off which
would shut her up for another 1/2 hour and this persisted all night up until about 4am when we had had enough. Dave then spent the rest
of the night in the lounge with her - with her in her cage some of the time and this seemed to keep her quiet. I think he said he had a
couple of 1/2 hour naps between 5 and 7 when I got up and continues to take Brad out for his walk. We have now decided that we will take
it in turns to sleep in the lounge with her for a few days to hopefully get her used to the idea of the cage until she gets clean it will probably mean we get more sleep than if we left her on her own we hope. Today she seems really tired - I wonder why? Brad is still treating her
with disgust although he did bark at her this morning instead of growl which we think is a good sign we hope.
She got an MOT from Sandy yesterday and is going back tomorrow to gave her vacination. Sandy is very old school and does not beleive in
vacinating before 8 weeks of age which is today. Early days yet but hopefully she will settle down soon & Brad will grow to like her eventually.
